Preliminary Task: Research into Camerawork: Camera Movement

Group Roles:
Camerawork: Amy
Writing: Amy

Pan:
A pan is when the camera lens moves from left to right. To acheive a smoother pan a tripod can be used. It used to follow an object and can show the distance between two objects. This movement is particulary effect in an establishing shot, when a location needs to be distinguished.

Tilt:
A tilt is when the camera vertically tilts up and down from a stationary location. A tilt can be used to show how high something is, and to diminish the subject and make them feel inferior.

Crab:

A Crab movement is when the camera moves following the object and a constant distance from the subject.

Arc:

An Arc movement is when the camera takes a semi circle around the focused object.

Pull in and Pull out:

This is used when the camera moves towards the subject. This is also known as a dolly zoom. The effect is that the background size changes whilst the subject appears stationary. This effect is known as perspective distortion.

  1. Hi ladies
First of all, this post should be titled 'Research into Camerawork'. The label is 'Skills Progress'. All of the photos should be in the same post and have captions stating what the camerawork is and when/why it is used (see glossary on my blog). Some of the statements you have already made for your camerawork could be more precise (again look at the definitions on the sites I have provided links for). Finally, you need to say who did what for this task.

  2. Why haven't you made the above amendments? Your progress is far too slow. You should be maintaining this blog at home and in your study periods. In class, both of you are spending far too much time chatting to the boys next to you which is having a serious impact on your progress. Your camerawork post should be perfect by now and your photo storyboard and pitch should have been completed and probably uploaded to the blog. Please start treating this unit with far more focus otherwise you will quickly get so far behind that you will never catch up!

Respond to this comment by adding another comment below explaining what steps you have taken to improve matters.

  3. Why does your camerawork post have 10 (!) labels? Please think about your work. Organisation is a key assessment criteria.

  4. We are currently working on our blog. We have began taking new accurate images, and have an unpublished post in progress. We have also made our descriptions for the camera shots more detailed, and are currently working on our pitch and a script, but have not yet taken any pictures for our storyboard, but are working on the writing part of this.
